At the heart of our endeavor lies a partnership with the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), an organization dedicated to the conservation, cultivation, and sustainable utilization of medicinal plants in India. With their generous support, we embark on a journey to establish a vibrant herbal garden within our school premises—a sanctuary for biodiversity, a living classroom, and a beacon of green inspiration.
Securing Funding:
Central to realizing our project’s vision is securing the necessary funding to support its establishment and ongoing maintenance.
Funding breakdown:
- Initial Plant Establishment: Each school receives 25,000 INR to cover the costs associated with procuring and planting medicinal herbs within their designated garden area.
- Annual Maintenance: In addition, schools receive an annual maintenance grant of 7,000 INR for the next four years, totaling 53,000 INR per school.
Project Proposal Highlights:
- Objectives: Our primary objective is to create a dynamic learning environment fostering a deeper understanding of medicinal plants, traditional healing practices, and environmental sustainability among students, teachers, and the broader community.
- Methodology: We will meticulously design the herbal garden to showcase a diverse range of medicinal plants, organizing them thematically to highlight their uses in traditional medicine systems Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy. The garden layout will incorporate sustainable gardening practices, including organic cultivation methods, water conservation measures, and composting techniques.
- Educational Outreach: The herbal garden will serve as a living classroom, offering hands-on learning experiences, interactive workshops, and educational tours for students, teachers, and visitors.
- Community Engagement: Beyond the school gates, the herbal garden will serve as a hub for community engagement and outreach initiatives. We envision organizing health awareness camps, herbal medicine workshops, and gardening seminars to empower community members with knowledge and skills for natural health and wellness.
